Top 10 Podcasts

Podcasts have been my new favorite lately! Next to audio books, I think they're a great alternative to binge watching TV shows or blasting music. Whether I'm in the car, traveling or working out, I think Podcasts are super entertaining to listen to. There are topics that cover every category, they can be educational, funny or opinionated. Podcasts are sort of bringing radio back in a more accessible way, reintroducing it's importance and fun to our generation. So if you haven't given it a try, I recommend you do. And here's a list of my top 10 favorite to get you started:

Disclaimer: Some of these podcasts are explicit and discuss controversial topics, please be advised before listening to any of the podcasts listed below.

10. Stuff You Should Know

Hosted by Josh and Chuck, this podcast explores the Stuff You Should Know about everything from genes to the Galapagos. They cover a large array of topics in factual detail, giving you a broad and well-educated understanding of the topic. It's a great educational podcast that might make you look a little smarter with quick and fun facts. They always take suggestions for topics, and upload new podcasts almost twice a week.

9. Serial

I was recently introduced to this podcast, that comes form the creators of This American Life. Serial unfolds a true story over the course of a whole season, following the plot and characters through evert twist and turn. Uploading a chapter every week, it's easy to get hooked on this podcast with it's cliff hanging and eerie storylines. If you're someone who's into murder mysteries or thrillers then this podcast is perfect for you!

8. Ted Talks

Most people are familiar with TED Talks, and this brings you those same conference speeches in audio form. They truly inspire, intrigue and stir the imagination with some of the world's leading thinkers and doers. This podcast uploads speakers from TED conferences, TEDx events and partner events. It's great if you're already a fan of TED Talks, and allows to listen to motivational and encouraging innovators on the go.

7. Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig

Grace is a pretty popular YouTube star that's known for her sarcastically funny videos. Her podcast is just the same. Featuring ridiculous, silly and unapologetically superficial interviews with famous stars every week.

6. Shane and Friends

If you're a fan of Shane Dawson on YouTube, then you'll def love this podcast. Shane brings some of his friends every week to talk about stuff and interview them. His honesty and sense of humor really bring a lightheartedness and personality to the show that is different from his videos. He's not afraid to discuss personal and somewhat controversial topics in a hilarious way.

Hosted by Shay and Colette from the Shaytards, this is definitely more of a family oriented podcast. Whether you follow their daily vlogs or not, this couple is extremely lovable and relatable. They discuss everything: family, life, love, marriage, science and religion.

4. Lets Make Mistakes Together

Created by Philp DeFranco this is yet another interview like podcast, but with a twist. DeFranco brings on guests every week to play drinking games and ask them a few too many personal questions. This podcasts allows you to see another side of DeFranco, compared to his YouTube channel, which mostly covers daily news and more serious topics.

3. Invasion of Privacy

I will be honest, this podcast isn't for everyone. Hosted now by comedian Kate Wolff, this podcast breaks boundaries by allowing you to listen in on inappropriate and unpredictable conversations. With comedic guests on the show each week you really never know what to expect. Kate's honesty and self-confidence always brings out the best in her guests, always approaching topics with an open-mind and sense of humor. However, if you are easily offended by strong language or inappropriate topics then I suggest you avoid listening in on this one.

2. Psychobabble with Tyler Oakley & Korey Kuhl

Tyler and Korey don't really need an introduction. Each week these two YouTube sensations bring half an hour of unfiltered gossip sessions, pop culture scrutiny and stories never told before. Their laughter is truly contagious, covering popular topics in celebrity news, music, TV and much more. This podcast never fails me on a bad day.

1. The Basement Yard

If you've been ignoring every one of my suggestions so far, this is the one you HAVE TO listen to! Joe Santago, who is one of my favorite YouTubers by far, hosts this podcast bringing along his friends and family every week. He shares personal stories in hilarious detail. I can't rave enough about this kid, all I can say is that you gotta listen in. And if you haven't seen his YouTube videos, then def check those out too!
