Sense of Self

Sense of Self: Get to Know Me

Here’s a peek into my space to help you get to know more about me. These are things that I connect with everyday and each has a story behind it. Hope this gives you some insight into who I am, and feel free to make your own list in a comment below

Smell: Cologne

It’s true, I love wearing men’s perfume. I always have some sort of cologne as a part of my perfume collection that I like to wear with more feminine scents. It creates a unique smell that I’m constantly complimented on, and others are always surprised (or confused) to hear that it’s actually a combination of men’s fragrances. I love the deep and musky notes that contradict those found in women’s scents. If you haven’t thought of adding a few to your collection, you definitely should.

A couple of my favorites are: Fierce by Abrecombie & Fitch (obvs) & L’Homme by YSL

Taste: Dolce Gusto Cappuccino

A good cup of coffee goes a long way, and every morning I start my day off with Dolce Gusto’s cappuccino. It’s quick and easy, just place a couple of capsules in and you’re ready to go. For an at home solution this is definitely one of my favorites. It’s an essential part of my daily routine, I usually put aside those 20 minutes every morning to enjoy a hot coffee in my favorite mug, and plan out my day.

Touch: Pablo

Pablo is my furry friend. He was a special graduation gift from my mom, who also bought a matching furry friend for herself (Juan). This little guy always adds a quirky element to every handbag, and is truly one of the softest fur balls, sorry Chole (she's my mini-poodle).

Sound: CDs & Playlists

I get this habit from my best friend who gifted me a stack of CDs for my birthday once, each was titled with a unique playlist of songs. I thought it was odd at first, CDs seemed to be so outdated. But there’s something so sentimental and personal about listening to those playlists that they still play on repeat in my car till this day. Since then I love burning personalized playlists for friends and family. I always get that same initial reaction from others, but then get a call or text a few days later saying how much it actually meant to them to listen to the playlist and relive that nostalgic feeling of playing a CD. I guess it’s like receiving a thank you card or a hand-written letter, it makes you and others feel that much more special.

Sight: Poetry Book Collection

Words are something I love. Like a lot. And my little poetry book collection is probably my favorite thing on this list. You’ll always find a pen or highlighter in my hand as I flip through the pages, because I love making notes and picking out some if my favorite lines to go back to when I need to. Reading poetry completely centers me, and though that may sound overly dramatic, I find some real comfort in beautiful words and phrases.

Here’s a list of some of my favorites that you should definitely check out: Milk & Honey by Rupi Kaur, Black Butterfly by Robert M. Drake, Memories by Land Leav, I wrote this for you and only you and by pleasefindthis

And let me know if you’d like me to start a “quotes” page on here where I will post some of my favorite lines and excerpts.
